DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to akagera national park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by our experienced safari driver guide who will brief you about the safari. After the briefing, you will begin the drive to east of Rwanda to akagera national park. on arrival, you will check in at your lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise
In the morning after breakfast, you will head out to the park for a game drive. While on the game drive, you will spot animals such as lions, elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and rhinos. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise on lake ihema. While on the boat cruise, you will spot animals such as hippos, crocodiles and various bird species such as fish eagles and king fishers. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Morning game drive and transfer to Kigali
In the morning, you will check out of the lodge and head to the park for a final game drive, this will give you an opportunity to spot animals that you may have missed out on the previous game drive. After the game drive, you will proceed with the journey to Kigali and on arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to nyungwe forest journey filled with scenic views of tea plantations and rolling hills. On arrival, check in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
In the morning after breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you head into the forest in search of the chimpanzees with the help of park rangers. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviours. After the chimpanzee trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will head to the park for a canopy walk which is a suspended bridge above the forest. While on the walk, you will spot animals walking in the forest, primates jumping from one tree to another and various bird species. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Transfer to Kigali and departure
Wake up at leisure, have breakfast, check out of the hotel and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will have a Kigali city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial museum, kimironko market and local art craft shops. You will have lunch and later be dropped at the international airport for your flight back home.
