DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: arrival-afternoon game drive and night game drive
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from Kigali and have scenic 2hrs 30mins to Akagera national park via the eastern province. Arrive at the parks southern gate, complete registration and briefing. After check into the lodge and have lunch.
After lunch, head out for a 3-hour game drive through the southern sector. While on the game drive, you will spot animals such as zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elephants and antelope species such as impalas and Topis. You will enjoy a golden hour photography. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and dinner
After dinner, embark on a night game drive with a park guide. Use a spotlight to search for nocturnal wildlife such as bushbabies, hyenas, genets and possibly leopards. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Sunrise game drive-northern circuit -departure
Early morning, depart at dawn for a sunrise game drive towards the northern plains of the park. the area offers higher chances of seeing the big five, especially lions and rhinos. Explore open savannah, swamps and wooded hills for a full spectrum of wildlife. After enjoy packed breakfast enroute in a scenic spot.
If time allows a short boat cruise on lake Ihema for aquatic birds, hippos and crocodiles. After you will have lunch and head back to the lodge. After, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival in Kigali, you will be dropped at your place of convenience.
