DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to akagera national park
On arrival at Kigali international airport, you will be welcomed by the safari guide. Enjoy a scenic drive to akagera national park. you will have a Kigali city tour and you will visit places like Kigali genocide memorial, kimironko market and local art craft shops. After the city tour, you will proceed with the journey to akagera national park. on arrival, you will check into the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
Early in the morning after breakfast, head into the park for a game drive in the northern sector. You will spot animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, antelopes, rhinos and elephants. After the game drives, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will take a boat cruise on lake ihema which is a perfect chance to see hippos, crocodiles and abundant birdlife. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and embark on the journey to volcanoes national park in the northwestern region of Rwanda. Drive through Kigali and then onward through the lush, rolling hills towards the national park. on arrival, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking
In the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After briefing, you will head into the dense forest in search of the gorillas. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch their behaviours, feeding patterns, breastfeeding, grooming their young ones and how they relate with one another.
Day 5: Visit Iby’iwacu cultural village – transfer to Kigali and departure
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and visit the cultural village where you will be introduced to the interesting traditional dance and drama of the Rwandese. After the visit, you will embark on the journey to Kigali with enroute lunch. On arrival, you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home.
