DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to akagera national park and afternoon game drive
Your safari begins with a drive eastwards to akagera national park which is Rwanda’s only savannah reserve and haven or game lovers. Upon arrival, check into the lodge and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, head out for a game drive. Expect to see zebras, impalas, buffalo, hippos and possibly elephants as the sun begins to set. After the game drive return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise
In the morning after breakfast, you will head for a morning game drive where you will spot animals that you may have missed previously. After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for a boat cruise at lake ihema where you will spot animals such as hippos and Nile crocodiles and abundant bird species. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes and iby’iwacu cultural visit
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to volcanoes. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Later in the afternoon, you will head to iby’iwacu cultural village where you will explore the Rwanda culture. After the experience, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and prepare for the next day activity.
Day 4: Gorilla trekking and departure
in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, set off with the park ranger into the forested slopes of the Virunga mountains. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with the magical giants as you observe their ways of living, groom their young ones and how they relate with one another. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for late lunch and freshen up. After, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped off at the international airport for your flight back home or at your hotel.
