DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer to Kigali
On arrival at Kigali international airport, our safari guide will welcome you and transfer to Kigali. Depending on the time of arrival, you will have a city tour where you will visit the Kigali memorial site, kimironko market, museums in Rwanda. After the visit, you will proceed to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera national park
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Akagera national park. On arrival, you will check into the hotel for a relaxation.
Day 3: Morning game drive and boat cruise
In the morning after breakfast, you will head to the northern circuit game drive to search for animals especially the herbivores and carnivores. You will spot animals like elephants, oribi, warthogs, antelopes, rhinos and many more. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Later in the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This will offer you amazing views of the surrounding areas, hills and swamps. You will spot animals like Hippos, crocodiles and rare bird species. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 4; Full day game drive
Early in the morning, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the morning game drive with hopes of spotting different animal species such as the big cats like lions, leopards and other carnivores. You will spot herbivores like rhinos grazing within the plains, gazelle, oribi, elephants and other rewarding game animals. After the morning game drive, you will return to the lodge for late breakfast and relaxation.
Later in the evening, you will return to the park for an evening game drive. You will spot predators as they come out of their hiding spots to catch prey, herbivores catching their last bites for the day, crocodile’s sun basking, elephants quenching their thirst from river banks and many more. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park

After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Nyungwe national park. You will pass through hills and cultivated countryside. While on the journey, you will have a stopover at the royal king’s palace in nyanza for a cultural description about the history of Rwanda, visit the cultural museum at rwesero and proceed to Butare town. You will have lunch and later visit the Rwanda national museum. After, you will proceed with the journey to Nyungwe national park. On arrival, you will check into the lodge for a relaxation and prepare for the next day activities.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
After morning breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. The trek takes 1-4 hours and once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an hour with them. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation and lunch.
In afternoon, you will head into the park for the canopy walk which offers exceptional views of the park as you walk along the suspended metallic trail in the trees. You will spot a number of primates swinging within the branches, and a variety of bird species. After the canopy walk, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Primate trekking and tea plantation visit
After morning breakfast, you will embark on a primate safari in Nyungwe where you will spot a number of primates such as Mona monkey, vervet monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys and many more. After the primate trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will tour the gisakura tea estate and learn about Rwanda’s renowned tea industry. After the visit, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay.
Day 8: Transfer to Lake Kivu
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to Lake Kivu. The lake is one of the great lakes in Africa and largest of the fresh water lakes in the albertine rift. On arrival, you will check into the lodge, relax and have lunch.
Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy the boat cruise on the lake to the nearby islands. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for dinner and night stay.
Day 9: Transfer to gisenyi
This offers amazing and excellent views of Lake Kivu and it’s the best place to relax while feeling its waterfront and sandy beaches. On arrival, you will have lunch and then spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing or visit the hot springs which will help you learn more about the formation of the Virunga volcanic mountains.
Day 10: Transfer to volcanoes national park
After morning breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to volcanoes national park. On arrival at the park, you will check into the lodge for a relaxation and prepare for the next day activities.
Day 11: Gorilla trekking
Early in the morning after breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters where you will have a briefing. After the briefing, you will head into the forest in search of the endangered species. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with them as you study their ways, nurturing their young ones, playing and feeding patterns among others. After the trekking, you will return to the park headquarters where you will be awarded a certificate of participation and then later proceed to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 12: Golden monkey trekking and visit the Ibyiwacu cultural village
After breakfast in the morning, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, you will enter the forest in search of the golden monkeys. While on the trek, you will spot other primates and bird species and the trek takes 3-4 hours. Once the monkeys are located, you will spend an hour with them observing them. After the trekking, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will visit the Ibyiwacu cultural village where you will have an interactive experience about the Rwandan traditions, culture and way of life. After the visit, you will return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and night stay.
Day 13: Hike mount Bisoke
After morning breakfast, you will set out for a hike on Mount Bisoke. The hike offers amazing views of the slopes. While on the summit, you will have a chance to spot the forest and the Crater Lake. After, you will descend the mount and return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 14; Transfer back to Kigali and departure
Waking up at leisure, have breakfast and check out of the lodge then embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, you will be dropped at your hotel or international airport for your flight back home.
