5 Days Akagera and Nyungwe Safari
This 5-day Rwanda safari combines two Rwanda’s most iconic national parks that is Akagera national park home to the big five and nyungwe forest national park, a rainforest haven renowned for primates and canopy walks. DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera national park and afternoon game drive
Your journey begins with a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rural landscapes to akagera national park. on arrival, check into the lodge, have lunch and relax. In the afternoon, venture into the park for an afternoon game drive. Expect to see zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, baboons and various antelopes. After the game drive, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Morning game drive and boat cruise
After morning breakfast, head into the park for a thrilling game drive in the northern sector. You will spot lions, Topis, eland and Masai giraffes. After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for an afternoon game drive where you will spot hippos and crocodiles as well as aquatic birds such as African fish eagle and kingfishers
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe forest national park
After morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey to nyungwe forest. Enjoy breathtaking views of Rwanda’s green hills, tea plantations and local villages along the way. On arrival, check into the lodge for a relaxation dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
After early morning breakfast, head out to the park headquarters for a briefing. After the briefing, enter into the forest in search of the chimpanzees. Once the troops are located, you will spend an hour with them as you watch them jump rom one tree to another, feeding patterns and breastfeeding. After, you will return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, head out for a thrilling canopy walk which is a suspended 60 meters above the forest floor. Marvel at the rich biodiversity, colourful birds, monkeys, orchids and towering trees. After the canopy walk experience, return to the lodge for a relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Departure
Wake up at leisure, check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. On arrival, depending on your time for the flight, you will have a brief city tour where you will visit places like the Kigali memorial genocide, kimironko market and art craft shops. After, you will be dropped to the airport for your flight back home.
