DETAILED ITINERARY
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe forest national park
Your African safari begins with an early pick up from Kigali. Enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda’s land of a thousand hills, passing rolling tea plantations and rural countryside. Stop at Nyanza kings palace or the national museum in Huye. Arrive at Nyungwe forest in the afternoon, check in at your lodge and enjoy dinner and overnight stay surrounded by the rainforest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk in Nyungwe forest
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing. After, trek through the lush rainforest listening for the whoops and calls of Nyungwe’s wild chimpanzees. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend an hour watching them swing through the trees and interact in their natural habitat. After, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, take the iconic Nyungwe canopy walk in east Africa’s only treetop walkway thus offering breath taking views above the forest. After, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to volcanoes national park
After breakfast, depart Nyungwe and enjoy another scenic African vacation safari drive through Rwanda’s hilly countryside. Have lunch en route as you travel north to volcanoes national park. Arrive at your lodge in the afternoon, check in and relax with stunning views of the Virunga volcanoes.
DAY 4: Gorilla trekking in volcanoes national park and return to Kigali.
After an early breakfast, drive to the volcanoes national park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers. Begin your guided gorilla adventure through bamboo forests and volcanic slopes. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an hour with these giants as you learn more about their behaviour. After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch and freshen up, then after check out of the lodge and embark on the journey back to Kigali. After, you will be dropped to the airport for your flight back home.
